Building a Skincare Routine: Finding What Works for You

Skincare should feel like a treat, not a chore.
Not something to perfect — just something to return to. A routine that reminds you: self care is important, even in small ways.

If your routine feels like another task to check off, this is your sign to rethink your routine and build one that suits you not only physically but mentally as well!

01. Start With Intention

Before products, before steps — ask yourself:
How do I want this routine to feel?

Do you want it to ground you before a busy day? Help you unwind at night? Feel like a form of luxury? Let the feeling guide the function!

02. Know Your Skin, Gently

You don’t need to overanalyze. Just observe.
What does your skin need when you’re stressed? After travel? During seasonal shifts?

This isn’t about chasing flawlessness — it’s about learning how to listen to your body, without judgment. Everyone's skin is different, even the influencers you see with "flawless" skin have their own skin concerns as well! Whether it's dryness, acne, or texture — specific skin concerns are entirely normal and are essential to figuring out how to treat in your routine!

03. Build a Foundation That Supports You

Keep your lineup simple. Supportive. Thoughtful.
Here are the essentials:

  • Cleanser — something gentle, especially if you have sensitive skin
  • Hydration — optional, but soothing if your skin runs dry (ex: toner)
  • Moisturizer — nourishing, not heavy/clogging
  • SPF — non-negotiable
  • Treatment (optional) — only if there’s a true concern to address (ex: acne)

Your routine should feel like a soft place to land, not another way to “fix” yourself! If should make you feel confident and relaxed, not conscious or stressed!

04. Make It a Ritual

Skincare becomes sacred when it’s slow and enjoyable! Play a playlist. Take your time. Massage products in with your fingertips. Let the sensation of treating your skin become be part of an experience.

You’re not just treating your skin — you’re calming your nervous system! That matters too!

05. Be Consistent — Even When It’s Not Perfect

Your skin will change. You will too. Some days you’ll double cleanse. Some days, you’ll barely have the energy to moisturize — and that’s okay!

The goal isn’t flawless skin. It’s showing up for yourself in small, sustaining ways!

Your skincare routine is more than what you use — it’s how you care.
Let it reflect the version of you who is soft, intentional, and whole.
